i was moving into a new apartment, and having a little bit of trouble with getting my mattress up the stairs by myself. one of the local tenants decided to help me, and we got the thing in the house and positioned in no time.
she said 'i knew i was safe in helping you because a deranged serial killer wouldn't have a bed this nice.'
what i should have said was nothing.
instead, i said, 'you'd be surprised.'"
